Keep hitting until it comes crumbling down
Walls show themselves in our lives in many forms. Arm yourself with enough determination and you are going to bring them all down.
Have you ever heard about the 2 millimeter rule?
If not then you should probably have a look at Tony Robbins's work.
The idea is that, whenever you would think that you are so far from where you would want to be and your inner voice is telling you to give up because things will never work out, then you are, probably, only 2 millimeters away from victory.
In his view, most excellent people give into exhaustion when they are only this far from outstanding results.
And isn't that true?
Haven't you ever had that feeling so many times of being so close to something big but ended up giving up?
Well hopefully next time when you are in that position you will find the determination to keep hitting the wall until it comes crumbling down.
But how does that look in practice?
- You are going to go against what is "normal"
People have a tendency to bend what is real and natural to their own liking and/or habits and then call that "normal". It is not necessarily their fault. Most people just go with the flow by merely reacting to surrounding social pressures without actually considering their actions.
But then again, close your eyes and put yourself in Albert Einstein's shoes for one second and imagine how many times he was contradicted with regards to the theory of relativity back when it was developed.
Luckily nature always catches up one way or another and one century later we are still all impressed by the accuracy of Einstein's discovery. So, it's not easy to be a pioneer or a leader, but that doesn't mean you should lose morale!
- You are going to feel stuck
- You are going to want to press restart
Let's be honest, when you are fighting what is "normal" and you are feeling stuck, it will not take much time until the desire to press restart kicks in.
Don't give into it! It is just another echo of the social pressures I have mentioned above.
People tend to show success and hide failure. So once the idea of possible failure finds sneaks into your thoughts, fear, which is a horrible feeling, will come along sooner or later. And not many of us know how to deal with that.
Now
If you've managed to find sufficient courage and determination to break through those major bricks above please also keep in mind the fact that you will always need to be open-minded as you can be either wrong or incomplete in your assumptions anytime.
